Farmacia Granatiero [Granatiero Pharmacy]

The pharmacy was founded in 1850 on the premises it still occupies today, on the ground floor of an eighteenth-century building in the historic centre of Castagneto Carducci. Bought in 1920 by the Giglione family, the pharmacy was managed by Drs. Monti, Battaglia, and Gassola. Since 1986 it has been owned by Dr. Antonio Granatiero. It still has its original furnishings, two sets of large open shelves made up of six elements which, at the time of their restoration in 1911, were arranged taking account of the enlargement of the pharmacy. On that occasion, the ceiling too was repainted with a rosette motif reiterating that of the wooden counter. On the outside of the pharmacy is the old marble tablet bearing the inscription "Farmacia Giglione".
