Premiata Farmacia Ciottoli [Prize-winning Ciottoli Pharmacy]

The pharmacy was already in existence in 1882, when it was bought by Dr. Giovan Battista Ciottoli, an ancestor of today's proprietors. Situated in a historic eighteenth-century building, the pharmacy conserves furnishings dating from the time it was purchased, but which have been modified over the years. The glass-fronted cabinets separated by columns surmounted by capitals, originally liver-red and black in colour, have been repainted in their present light green tones. In 1992, a new room was bought and the sales area was enlarged, making it necessary to open another entrance door and to build new shelves, in the same style as the original ones. The pharmacy conserves numerous ceramic and glassware objects dating from the first half of the 20th century, a barometer, a boiler for sterilising and the original logo of the "prize-winning pharmacy", designed after it received an award for its "Galenic" preparations at the Paris Exposition of 1908.
