Villa Roncioni

The garden adjoining the villa dating to the late 15th century is one of the most fascinating testimonies of the architectural language of Alessandro Gherardesca, interpreter of the figurative culture where neoclassicism, romanticism and the neo-Gothic come together. Picturesque little woods and waterways harmonise with the chapel, the castle and, especially, the silkworm nursery with spinning mills in the neo-Gothic style, which Francesco Roncioni built on the model of the one set up by Raffaello Lambruschini at the San Cerbone farm. The villa and silkworm nursery are currently being restored. The chapel also has a medallion depicting Galileo Galilei and Dante Alighieri.
