The bridge, which comprises two moving sections and one fixed section, retracts along roughly one-half of its distance toward the villa. The movement is controlled by a jack, which, by means of chains and pulleys, drives the two rollers, that transmit the motion to the two sections of the bridge at two different speeds, one twice as fast as the other.
