Cod. Lat. Monacensis 28800 (BSBM)
Facsimile; ca. 1430-49; 29x22 cm
This 83-leaf autograph paper codex is missing its first 12 leaves, but these can be reconstructed with the aid of copies that were made while it was still intact. It includes a series of drawings of machines, described by a short Latin text. Military subjects (both traditional devices, such as siege-ladders, trebuchets etc., and the 'new' fire-arms) predominate. Machines with civil uses and devices harnessing hydraulic power are also present.
fols. 37v-38r: Buckets operated by means of levers fill a cistern with water drawn from a river.
