This manuscript originally comprised 96 leaves, two of which have been lost. The contents include notes and calculations relating to military technology and architecture dating from 1502, when Leonardo was in the service of Cesare Borgia, the Duke of Valentinois (Il Valentino). Other significant elements are studies of the flight of birds and preparatory studies for a flying machine.
