Working model after Francesco di Giorgio, Ms. Saluzziano 148 (BRT), fol. 64v

This machine is designed to clear gravel, mud, and earth from shallow ports. The pair of linked boats operates in combination with a raft (not shown by Francesco), into which the four spoons with cutting edges discharge the matter scraped up from the bottom. The lengths of the four arms can be adjusted to work at different depths.
