The model shows a farming application of Francesco's chariot, whose characteristic curved rack-and-pinion steering system is recognizable here. The worm screw of the crank-operated driving shaft meshes with a vertical toothed wheel. The wheel is fitted on both sides with eight evenly spaced pegs that raise each hoe in turn.
