Working model after Leonardo da Vinci, Madrid Ms. I (BNM), fol. 157v

Mechanism for regulating the movement of a weigh-driven clock. Via a transmission system composed of wheels and pinions, the weight causes the rotation of the drum bearing a sinusoidal track. The drum?s revolutions impart a back-and-forth motion to the curved rack (top). The latter, in turn, drives the propeller alternately clockwise and counterclockwise.
