Galileo Galilei

Il saggiatore, in Roma, appresso Giacomo Mascardi, 1623

[IMSS: Med 1298]

Galileo conceived The Assayer as a replica against many of his detractors. The book is mainly concerned with the controversial nature of the comets. However, it also contains a resume of Galileo's telescopic observations. Indeed, a beautiful image of the book shows, except for Mercury, the aspects of the known planets.
