Codex on the Flight of Birds, 17v. - Memory of the cortone seen at Fiesole on March 14: "When the bird has a great wingspread and a short tail, and with it wants to rise, then it will raise its wings forcefully and turning will receive the wind under its wings, the which wind, forming a cone, will powerfully thrust it upward, like the cortone bird of prey that I saw while going to Fiesole above the place of Barbital on the day of March 14", c. 1505.
