Forms as universal matrices
  [ IV.4  Forms as universal matrices ]

Leonardo strives to isolate from the multiplicity of nature’s manifestations a small number of archetypal geometric forms. These forms, that are priviledged by nature, reflect the working of universal laws of order and proportion. These nature’s matrixes are considered by him as models not only for his production as an artist but also for his technical and scientific work.
