Italian physicist, professor of physics and mechanics at the Liceo San Alessandro in Milan. After the uprising of 1848, he continued his teaching career in Turin. Maiocchi specialized in electromagnetism. He wrote treatises on physics and mathematics, and invented a galvanometer and a special type of condensation hygrometer.
