Nuzzi is a very common family name in Rincine, a town on the slopes of Monte Falterona. It appears—together with different first names—on many surviving examples of locally produced clocks. In this case, the individual may be the Giovanni Grisostomo recorded by Morpurgo (Dizionario, s.v.) as the maker of a clock apparently similar to the one in the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza of Florence (XII.19).
