The pillar supporting the elements of this brass simple dissecting microscope is mounted on the lid of the box covered in black leather and lined with green velvet. The pillar holds the illumination mirror, a stage, and the objective changer. The instrument has two lenses with a lieberkuhn and two other, more powerful objectives. There is a stage forceps for holding specimens. This type of microscope was designed by John Ellis. Provenance: Lorraine collections.
