The brass case of this mantel clock is incomplete. The pavilion rests on a truncated pyramid base, with fretworked decorations and engraved markings at the top. The brass dial has Roman hour numerals. The hand is not original. The two trains are driven by a single, two-wheeled barrel. The going train has a verge escapement with a horizontal contrate wheel and a pendulum (replacement) integral with the verge. The chime train is controlled by a six-stroke regulator. Between the dial and the front plate is the rake mechanism controlling the chime with a snail for the quarter-hours. The alarm mechanism faces the back and has a sling hammer that hits the bell from the inside. Two other hammers strike the bell from the outside, while a fourth hammer struck a bell now missing. Restoration may have removed the maker's identification. Before later alterations, this was a high-quality, complex clock.
