Apparatus invented by Leopoldo Nobili. A bell-shaped lead base, coated with sealing-wax varnish, carries a glass stem with brass arms. Their height is adjustable by means of a rack and pinion. The arms terminate in pinchers for holding the platinum electrodes used to produce the metalochromes. Provenance: Lorraine collections.
