The surgical instrument kit designed by Giovanni Alessandro Brambilla for lithotomy procedures is arranged in four drawers:

Nos. XIX, XX, and XXI are labeled PRO LITHOTOMIAE and contain dilators, tongs, forceps, lithotomes, scalpels, and cystotomes for cutting the bladder, urethrotomes for incisions in the urethral canal, and conductors, i.e., grooved probes used as guides for stone extraction.

Complementing the instruments above, which are suitable for gallstone extraction, drawer no. XVIII, PRO LITHOTOMI ET IMMISSORES, contains catheters for exploring stones and guiding the knife, trocars, and a syringe; on the shelf below is a set of lithotomes, i.e., "stone-cutting" knives.

The instruments were made by the cutler Joseph Malliard.
