This teaching model shows a hemorrhage due to a probable separation of the placenta, which is in posterior position. The fetus is in cephalic presentation, its upper limbs prolapsed and the umbilical cord wound around its neck. Hemorrhages caused by laceration of placental tissue during delivery can endanger the life of the mother and fetus. The model was commissioned by Giuseppe Galletti.
