This balance, now damaged and incomplete, probably belonged to the chemistry cabinet of Grand Duke Peter Leopold. All that remains of the instrument is a thin brass pillar with rack to adjust the height of the support. The pillar was secured to a rectangular wooden base with folding feet and screws for adjustment. The pillar held the balance beam. Provenance: Lorraine collections.
