Publication of a Critical Edition of the ''Apiarium'' by Federico Cesi

Description:	In March 2006 the Accademia dei Lincei published a critical edition of the "Apiarium", edited by Luigi Guerrini and translated by Marco Guardo. The document, first published in 1625 and since then out of print and circulation, was conceived by Federico Cesi, founder of the Accademia dei Lincei, in order to celebrate the election of Pope Urban VIII. The present edition, published almost four centuries after the "Editio princeps" features an introduction about the figure and intellectual activity of Federico Cesi and reconstructs, thanks to precious archival documents by the Accademia dei Lincei and other institutions, the cultural context between the 16th and 17th centuries.
