Description:	In 2006 the IMSS library acquired about 2,100 documents (mostly books, but also excerpts and minor materials, photocopies, microfilms and microfiches, CD-ROMs, videos, etc.), more than 700 of which were received as gifts or exchanges. Among the about 1,400 purchased documents, 338 were published in 2006, 351 in 2005, 115 in 2004, 65 in 2003, 55 in 2002, etc. As for the country of publication, 364 were published in Italy, 280 in the USA, 194 in Germany, 184 in France, 170 in the United Kingdom, 72 in Spain, etc. The language of the texts is mostly English (569), 345 are in Italian, 207 in French, 156 in German, etc. All the documents acquired in 2006 have been catalogued (subject indexing, index transcription and cataloguing of single essays in miscellaneous volumes included). They are now available to scholars and consultable via the library's online catalogue with traditional search methods. The articles - in the Italian periodicals - dealing with the history of science have been catalogued, as well as three special collections recently acquired by the IMSS library: the Thèses Médecine Estate (last tranche cataloguing completed), the Chiaraviglio Collection (cataloguing completed) and the Boffito Collection (about 2/3 catalogued).
