Cataloguing Scientific and Technological Heritage - the PST Card

Area:
Museum
Start:
1 February 2007
Description:
The IMSS created the STS (Scientific Instruments) catalogue card some years ago, in collaboration with the ICCD (Central Institute for Catalogue and Documentation). In 2005, in order to cope with the changing needs of this area, the forementioned card was updated by a work-group instituted in November 2004 and consisting of representatives of the ICCD (Paolo Castellani, Flavia Ferrante, Maria Letizia Mancinelli and Sandra Vasco), of the IMSS (Mara Miniati, the coordinator of the implementation of the SIC (then STS) card), of the University of Siena (Francesca Vannozzi), of the University of Milan (Pasquale Tucci), of the Politecnico in Turin (Vittorio Marchis), of the Associazione Nazionale Musei Scientifici (Fausto Barbagli) and of the ENEA (Antonio di Lorenzo and Carmine Marinucci). During several meetings the layout of the card and the compilation rules were defined. The new PST layout was then tested by the IMSS and the University of Siena. Later on, the IMSS contributed - in collaboration with the CUTVAP of the University of Siena, the ICCD and the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia "Leonardo da Vinci" - to the creation of the CD "Catalogare il Patrimonio Scientifico e Tecnologico - la Scheda PST" (Cataloguing Scientific and Technological Heritage - PST Card). The Regione Toscana, Direzione Generale Politiche formative e dei beni culturali, financially supported the project. The CD, intended for the cataloguing teaching of scientific instruments, is the third in the series producted by ICCD and was edited by Paolo Castellani, Mara Miniati and Francesca Vannozzi. The cards were compiled by Iolanda Rolfo and Gigliola Terenna.
