Description: |
On February 27, 2007, an afternoon in honour of Maria Luisa Bonelli Righini took place at the IMSS in the conference room named after her. Organized by the Soroptimist International Club in Florence and the IMSS, the event included speeches by Rosalia Manno Tolu, Mara Miniati, Alberto Righini and Isabella Truci. All talks emphasized the importance of this female pioneer, curator and director of the Institute at a time when the historical and scientific value of ancient instruments was not yet fully acknowledged, and when the collections had been seriously damaged, first by the war and then by the Florentine flood. The talks also highlighted, among the different fields of Bonelli Righini's research, her studies on Galileo Galilei and Vincenzo Viviani. |
