Description: |
Thanks to a generous contribution from the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen, an important 16th century table clock, acquired by the IMSS in 1994, is now functioning again. The restoration work was carried out by the Centro Studi per la Valorizzazione e il Restauro di Orologi e Strumentaria Storico Scientifica (Study Centre for Enhancing and Restoring Clocks and Historical Scientific Instruments) from the "Leonardo da Vinci" technical school in Florence, under the supervision of Andrea Palmieri and Ugo Pancani. The insertion of a mechanical prosthesis allowed the restoration of the working order of the clock, which will be displayed in a special exhibition section for the occasion of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva from April 16th to 21st. Together with the original instruments, the exhibition will also contain a three-dimensional reconstruction of the movement, made by Fabrizio Cambi, and a film on the different phases of the restoration. |
