Description: |
After its first display in Florence at the Uffizi Gallery, where the exhibition was visited by over 1,100,000 people, "The Mind of Leonardo" opened on March 19, 2007 at the prestigious National Museum in Tokyo, in the presence of the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Francesco Rutelli, as well as the Prince and the Princess Hitachi. The Tokyo exhibition, which is one of the highlights of the "Primavera Italiana 2007", is promoted by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy in Tokyo. It is organized by the "Primavera Italiana 2007" Steering Committee, the Tokyo National Museum, the Asahi Shimbun, NHK and NHK Promotions. The Tokyo show displays sections III to VI of the original exhibition, integrated with two new sections purposely conceived in order to allow the Japanese public to better understand Leonardo da Vinci's life and work. An integral part of the exhibition is the original painting of the "Annunciation", a work rarely seen outside the Uffizi Gallery, which has generously loaned it to the National Museum in Tokyo for the occasion.
