In April 2007 the IMSS Library received as a gift a collection of books and manuscripts housed at the library of Vallombrosa Abbey and related to the activity of the meteorological observatory of the Vallombrosa Forest Institute. The manuscript collection contains the registers of the meteorological observations made in Vallombrosa from 1873 to 1911; the about 50 printed books are dated from the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century and deal mainly with meteorology and geology. The cataloguing of the collection is scheduled for 2008.
