Organized by the Centro Internazionale d'Arte e di Cultura of Palazzo Te, together with Comune di Mantova and Istituto Mantovano di Storia Contemporanea, the exhibition "La Nazione Dipinta" narrates the Italian Renaissance through the history of an Italian family, the Sacchis. Under the High Patronage of the Italian Republic, the exhibition - curated by Maurizio Bertolotti in cooperation with art historians - compares significant 19th-century paintings, sculptures, documents and books, thus tracing the most important aspects in the building of the Italian nation and its representation in art. The IMSS contributed to the exhibition by lending the important preparatory sketch by Tito Lessi, showing Galileo's last days. The catalogue of the exhibition ("La Nazione Dipinta: Storia di una Famiglia tra Mazzini e Garibaldi", 32,00 euro) is published by Skira.
