Description: |
On September 18th, 2007, an Open Day took place at the IMSS to present the educational activities planned for the 2007/2008 school year. Until the end of May 2007, teachers interested in visiting the Museum will have the opportunity to choose among unguided group visits, didactic visits with an educational guide, and specific experience visits including demonstrations of functioning antique instruments and an introduction to the rich history of the collections and the evolution of science. In order to gain a full understanding of the context and importance of the Museum's collections, the interactive workshops focus on the development of the scientific disciplines through hands-on activities and demonstrations using replicas of instruments. This is followed by an accompanied visit to the rooms in the Museum dedicated to the original instruments. This Open Day was organized as part of the "La Primavera della Scienza" project and also took place in other participating institutions (Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milan, Fondazione IDIS - Cittą della Scienza in Neaples, Museo Tridentino di Scienze Naturali in Trento, Science Centre - Immaginario Scientifico in Trieste, Sistema Museale di Ateneo of the University of Pavia). Further information about the educational activities offered by the IMSS is available at http://www.imss.fi.it/news/edidattica.html or by calling 0039 055 210866. |
