Restoration and renovation work at the Museum of the History of Science
Area: |
Museum |
Start: |
7 January 2008 |
Description: |
The Institute and Museum of the History of Science started, at the beginning of the new year, relevant restoration works of the halls hosting its collections: on January 7 the 1st floor of the Museum was closed to the public, whereas the 2nd floor will stay open until the end of February 2008. During the restoration work a significant selection of the collections will be visible on the ground floor. Moreover the spaces, which are currently featuring temporary exhibitions, will host fascinating exhibits focusing on themes related to science history. This ambitious renovation project is financed by the Framework Agreement (Accordo di Programma Quadro) signed by the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities (Ministero per i Beni e le Attivitą Culturali) and the Tuscan Region (Regione Toscana). The new presentation of the collections, conceived on the basis of innovative museographic criteria, is made possible thanks to the generous contribution of the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze and will be inaugurated in Fall 2009.
