Description: |
On the occasion of the 550th anniversary of the coronation of king Mathias Corvinus of Hungary, the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest has requested the Soprintendenza Speciale al Polo Museale Fiorentino and the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence to design a great historical and artistic exhibition. Monica Bietti and Annamaria Giusti were the curators of the exhibition, with the collaboration of Maria Sframeli, and the scientific supervision of Cristina Acidini Luchinat. The exhibition included about 200 masterworks with the aim of illustrating the history of the Medici family and of the Florentine artistic life between the 15th and the 16th centuries. The Institute and Museum of the History of Science was represented in the exhibition by the loaning of the precious Polilobate Cup, made of polychromatic majolica, that the members of the Florentine Accademia del Cimento used as a part of a fountain. |
