The Castellani collection is entirely catalogued and consultable via the library's online catalogue using traditional search methods. From the OPAC entry page, clicking on "Castellani collection", accesses a list in short format. In December 2007 the library of the Institute and Museum of the History of Science was donated part of the personal library of Carlo Castellani, science historian with a specific interest in life sciences. The Castellani collection is made up of approximately 600 works (monographs, pamphlets and periodicals' issues) and consists of many 20th century essays on the history of medicine and life sciences, some ancient (photocopied) texts and a CD-ROM version of ca. 30 important manuscripts by Lazzaro Spallanzani housed at the Biblioteca Panizzi (Reggio Emilia). |
