The Bibliotheca Perspectivae Project
Area: |
Digital library |
Start: |
16 March 2005 |
Description: |
Since April of 2004, the IMSS has been engaged in realising digital libraries that are not exclusively limited to consulting printed documents and manuscripts online.
The broader goal aims to produce an integrated collection of digital resources which include images, text documents, video, sound, and animation. An example is the "Bibliotheca Perspectivae, The Art and Science of Representation: Renaissance Treatises on Perspective", presented to the press on March 16 during the 15th Week of Scientific Culture. This first version of the Bibliotheca Perspectivae does not represent simply a "library" on representation gathering the treatise sources of the period ranging from the 15th- through the 18th- centuries. It also offers sections on "Iconography", an "Educational Workshop" and "Net Resources", as a sophistication information tool on the history of perspective or, more generally, of representation. Edited by Filippo Camerota, content manager, and coordinated by Stefano Casati, director of the IMSS Digital Library (IMSS BD), the Bibliotheca Perspectivae would not have been possible without the help of the professionals of the IMSS Multimedia Laboratory. |
