The Istituto Regionale per la Ricerca Educativa della Toscana (IRRE Toscana, www.irre.toscana.it) has begun an experimental project for curricular itineraries in public schools that provide for a close interaction between science museum and school officials.
The goal is to renovate science teaching, also through the acquisition of a historical and problematic dimension of research.
The IRRE Toscana project involves both the IMSS and the Natural History Museum of the University of Florence. These two institutions will host meetings with teachers having two main objectives: to reflect on the instruments that a museum can offer to renew science instruction, and to program experimental activities as part of schools' teaching plans, to be applied in the forthcoming school year.
The three institutions involved have signed an agreement which outlines the conditions for long-term systematic participation which work towards the goals outlined by the project. |
