Description: |
On February 11th the exhibition "Scientific instruments from antique florentine collections" was inaugurated within the exhibition space of Palazzo Castellani, the site of the Institute and Museum of the History of Science. Within the exhibition it is possible to admire part of the IMSS' Medicean and Lorraine collections. It is well known that the museum's first and second floors are currently in the advanced stages of complete restoration for the planned reopening at the end of 2009. The museum will be renamed "Museo Galileo" and will host the new exhibition. Virtual images of the remodelled exhibition space are on view within this current exhibit. The objects and very precious books follow a historical and chronological order that are material witnesses to the scientific process that Florence and Tuscany saw from the Renaissance up to the Unification of Italy. |
