Description: |
The catalogue of the Museum's scientific instruments was recently moved into the cumulative data bank managed by its library. Using LibriVision or AquaBrowser you can now have digital access to records of books that are either kept in the library or present in bibliographies, manuscripts, archival materials, epoch photographs as well as some instruments from the Museum's collections. If for example you search the word "astrolabe" a directory listing the following entries will appear: - a detailed description of the instrument, indicated by a small compass icon; - books or texts on the related theme, indicated by a small, closed book icon; - essays or reference articles, indicated by a small, open book icon; - archive documents from the Reale Museo di Fisica e Storia Naturale that relate to the acquisition of the instruments, indicated by a small icon of a manuscript. If you would like to select records regarding only the instruments it is possible to click "Object" in the column on the right hand side of the screen under "Refine/Format". Once you have entered into the instrument's records, clicking on the "Online access" link will allow you to visualize the instrument within the Multimedia Catalogue where it is possible to find more in-depth information and other research material. |
