On the evenings of July 17th, 20th and 21st the Museum of the History of Science opened its doors for a special event. "Il Museo per chi Lavora" (The Museum for those that work) included a guided visit of the temporary exhibit "Scientific Instruments of Antique Florentine Collections". During the evening an animator explained some of the sensational astronomical discoveries made by Galileo with his telescope and showed the main types of lenses and curved mirrors whose combination allowed 17th-century scientists to explore both the infinitely large and the infinitely small. After visiting the museum, those that wished could continue their evening on a boat and see the performance by the theatre group Zauberteatro, "Del risciacquare la toga in Arno", presented on board some antique boats on the river Arno. |
