From December 16, 2009 to January 31, 2010 the Associazione Amici degli Uffizi promoted the exhibition "Santi poeti navigatori..." (Saints, Poets, Navigators...), which was held in the Sala delle Reali Poste of the Uffizi Gallery and was organized as part of the series "I mai visti" (Never-before-seen Works). Centered on the 16th-century portrait of the Bolognese physician Alessandro Achillini by Amico Aspertini, the exhibition presented the theme of the importance famous men had on Florence's cultural world, as well as the role Paolo Giovio played within the Medici court. In fact, Cosimo I ordered a collection of the most beautiful portraits displayed in Giovio's 'Musaeum' to be copied as part of the interior design of the Sala del Mappamondo of Palazzo Vecchio. This ambitious iconographic, scientific, literary and artistic design testifies to the multiple interests of Cosimo dei Medici. The original project of the Sala was on display thanks to the virtual reconstruction of the halls made by the Multimedia Laboratory of the Institute and Museum of the History of Science.
