The Omodeo Collection

Description:	In December 2003, the IMSS Library acquired the personal library of Pietro Omodeo, currently a professor in the department of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Siena and a long-time scholar of the history of science and biology in particular. The "Omodeo Collection" is made up of approximately 2,000 works and constitutes a patrimony of great historical-naturalistic interest that will enrich the IMSS Library collections, traditionally oriented towards the physical-mathematical disciplines. By selecting "Omodeo Collection" on the page that opens the online catalogue (http://biblioteca.imss.fi.it/LV2_1bin/LibriVision), a short-form list of the above collection is accessible. The cataloguing of the approximately 250 antique volumes by Maria Chiara Flori involved compiling a basic description and content notes which indicate the works not reported on the title page. In cataloguing the more recent works, carried out mainly by Elena Della Valle, the standard treatment of the Library's modern collections was followed.
