On the occasion of the bicentenary of the death of Felice Fontana (1730-1805), one of the first Italian scientists to achieve international renown, the IMSS and the Museo di Storia Naturale of the University of Florence are presenting a series of lectures (in Italian) that will take place in the Tribuna di Galileo in the Florence Museo di Storia Naturale – "La Specola" Zoology Department (Via Romana 17, Florence) from November 16 to December 7, 2005, according to the following schedule: Simone Contardi, La nascita del Museo di Fisica e Storia Naturale (The birth of the Physics and Natural History Museum, November 16th, 5pm), Curzio Cipriani, Le collezioni naturalistiche (The naturalistic collections, November 23rd, 5pm), Renato Pasta, Cosmopolitismo e scienze nell'opera di Giovanni Fabbroni (Cosmopolitanism and science in Giovanni Fabbroni's work, November 30th, 5pm), Mara Miniati, Macchine e modelli: il Gabinetto fisico (Models and machines: the Physics Cabinet, December 7th, 5pm). The initiative, sponsored by the Accademia Roveretana degli Agiati and the Museo Civico of Rovereto, takes place in conjunction with the exhibition "Omaggio a Felice Fontana" ("Tribute to Felice Fontana" - October 15, 2005 – February 19, 2006), organized by the Museo Civico of Rovereto and curated by Renato Mazzolini and Marta Poggesi.
