The Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris has opened a grand exhibition on the extraordinary development of the Islamic sciences between the 8th and the 15th centuries. The exhibition is articulated in three thematic sections: the knowledge of the universe and the earth, life sciences and of the environmental control and the relations between science and art. In this context the IMSS will display an important Arab astrolabe, that underlines the spread and importance of Islamic culture in the Mediterranean area. The catalogue of the exhibition (L'âge d'or des sciences arabes, € 45.00) is published by the Institut du Monde Arabe with Actes Sud. |
