Vessels from the blacksmith's house

Many interesting precision instruments and work tools were found in the Blacksmith's House in Pompeii (Regio I, insula 10, no. 7). Among them, there were also two vessels of a peculiar shape which, unfortunately, were destroyed during the World War II bombings. The reconstruction we present was made on the basis of the photograph taken at the moment of their finding.

The first of the two objects is a piece of green pear-shaped glass with a long thin rod with a capillary hole, for a total length of 37 cm.

The second is a crooked piece of light blue glass, consisting of a rod with a capillary hole that ends, on one end, with a hook, and on the other, with a sphere, for a total length of 32 cm.
