The ethnographic collection dates from 1972, when it was arranged by the teachers and students of an intermediate school in the Commune of Sesto Fiorentino, where it had been conserved. Subsequently, the Commune purchased all of the objects, entrusting their management to a group of volunteers. The collection has recently been moved to its new premises, a former rural house.

Displayed in the ethnographic collection are examples of the material culture and life of the peasants, coming from the rural houses in the area, including tools and machines for work in the fields, the woods and the stalls, as well a number of looms for weaving.
