Tablet with letter to Assyrian King Esarhaddon, 680-669 B.C.
London, British Museum, inv. K496

A letter to King Esarhaddon from two court astrologers who have observed the full Moon on the 14th day of the month. The astrologers now wait to observe the appearance of the new Moon the following month and will inform the king of their observations. If the Pleaides light up and appear before Venus in the morning, the omen will affect the city.
