This is a reprint of the famous editions of Henricus Stephanus (1570 and 1592), supplemented by four plates of unknown authorship. The plate shown here is one of the first iconographic representations of the hanging gardens of Babylon, based on the testimony of Herodotus and Diodorus Siculus.
