Pink clay, 350-320 B.C.
Ruvo, S. Angelo
Naples, Museo Archeologico Nazionale, inv. 81856

This lekythos portrays Heracles who, in the garden of the Hesperides, is completing his Labours by conquering the golden apples. The serpent Ladon is twisting around the trunk of the tree rich in golden leaves and fruit, symbol of the garden. Two Hesperides stand on either side of the tree, while on the right appears Iolas, a friend of Heracles.
