Fragments of pinax with fruit harvesting scene

Clay, 470-460 B.C.
Locri Epizefiri, Mannella district, Sanctuary of Persephone
Reggio Calabria, Museo Nazionale, inv. 57287, 57285

These two fragments come from different plaques. The pinakes decorated with scenes of fruit harvesting are interesting for their representation of natural elements, not frequently found in Greek art of the 5th century B.C. In recent studies, the fruit has been identified as small apples.
