Labrum

Verde antique, middle of the Imperial Age
Rome, Porta Maggiore
Rome, Musei Capitolini, Centrale Montemartini, inv. MC 3559

The basin, or labrum, is carved in precious green marble coming from Thessaly. The place where it was found, not far from Porta Maggiore, suggests that it may originally have been part of the decoration of the Horti of Statilius Taurus.
The labrum was mounted on this base, which is not part of it, in the Twenties.
