Boy with a goose
White marble, 1st cent. A.D. Oplontis excavations Soprintendenza Archeologica di Pompei, inv. 70056, 74987
This statue was found, along with those of the four centaurs, in a storeroom where it had been placed during renovation work on the villa. It too was a decorative element for a fountain, as shown by the presence of a pipe passing through the boy's body and ending in the goose's mouth.
