Small pillar with relief slab
White marble, early 1st cent. A.D. Pompeii, House of the Gilded Cupids Soprintendenza Archeologica di Pompei, inv. 20460
This little pillar is the lower part of the previous one. In consideration of the main subject, related to the sea, and the total height of the two pillars, it may be presumed that they were originally the marble decoration of a thermal area, perhaps the frame of a portal, which was later cut in half and used for other purposes.
